Well, two years have gone by since I was elected to serve, and, wow! How time flies…
Together we have made some great things happen. We have earned two Main Street Awards, for our Trunk or Treat – Chaired by Dennis Ferraro at Keiser University, and our second for the Core Connection Group, Co-Chaired by Jael Aldunate and William Ortiz from ADT. The recognition of our accomplishments is proof positive that we have become a stellar organization, located in the heart of the Semoran Corridor. I couldn’t be prouder of leading this dedicated group of professionals.
From supporting community gardens to Midnight Basketball, we work on tree plantings and clean-ups to improve life along the corridor. And I think you’ll find that our Signature Golf Event, hosted by Ventura Country Club, is a beautiful jewel that we love to show off. Great fun and great food!
While we embrace the 4 Point Approach of the Main Street Philosophy; Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion and Organization, we also support Public Safety. This committee is led by Vice President, Todd Piorkowski. This is where we set ourselves apart from the crowd. Our initiatives in this critical area are driven by the needs and desires of the community. We see high growth and tap into local businesses and law enforcement to communicate and monitor local happenings.
Another initiative, over these past two years, was to grow our relationships and attract some “star power” to help us spread the word about who we are and what we do. In doing such, we are now proud members of the Hispanic Chamber, Brazilian Chamber and the East Orlando Chamber. We also work hand-in-hand with Central Florida Magazine. We share our calendar and promote our partners’ events to help all of our members expand relationships and make solid business connections to grow their circle of influence and to widen their pool of talent and expertise.
Our future plans include offering a Main Street App that will increase business for our members and provide visitors with information on where to eat, and spend leisure time. Our banners are ready to hang and our traffic signal boxes will be painted or wrapped. Adding Art to the Corridor is another plan we have for the next 2 years. Our partner Sunshine Medical is already blazing this trail.
A special thank-you to our supporters at Orlando City Hall, including Commissioner Tony Ortiz, who had the vision to form our East Orlando Market Street and to Pauline Eaton – Main Street Coordinator. We appreciate all of your guidance, support and encouragement.
If you are a stake holder, we thank you for your confidence in helping us achieve our goals. If you want to be part of something BIG and help shape the future of the Semoran Corridor, we are that connection.
May you be proud of the work you do, the person you are and the difference you make!
